Aker Seafoods Denmark A/S (earlier Thorfisk A/S) was established in 1945 in Grenaa, located on Denmark’s Jutland peninsula, by Thorbjørn Christensen. In step with the growth of the fisheries industry, the company has expanded over the years. Since 1996, the previously family-owned company Aker Seafoods Denmark A/S has been included in the Aker Seafoods Group. Today, Aker Seafoods Denmark has 230 employees.

Aker Seafoods Denmark’s business relies on the expertise of its experienced staff, who are experts on fish and fish products. Product development is a continuous process at Aker Seafoods Denmark, as is improving production procedures, product quality, distribution, and cleaning methods. Each employee is responsible for maintaining and advancing Aker Seafoods Denmark‘s position as an innovative and quality-conscious fish processor.

Fish is a natural and healthy food, and a beneficial part of our everyday diet. Aker Seafoods Denmark delivers a broad range of fish products, including private-label production. Products include both fresh and frozen retail-ready goods, semi-processed products, and finished goods. All Aker Seafoods goods maintain high quality standards, and all products are intended for the quality-conscious consumer.


Aker Seafoods Denmark has three core business areas:

1) MAP-packed Fish
Production and daily supply of MAP packaged fresh products for retail sale in Denmark and northern Germany. The products comprise fillets of various roundfish and flatfish, fishcakes, minced fish and a number of seasonal products. Thorfisk has developed the MAP-packed Fish concept, and today we sell the products in most Danish supermarket and grocery chains.

2) Frozen Fish
Production of processed fish products to European customers in retail, catering and food services. The products include filled convenience products based on roundfish and flatfish, breaded and pre-fried fish portions, and cod, plaice and flounder fillets. We also process overseas semi-products such as Alaska Pollack. The products are based on fresh and frozen primary produce of top-quality.

3) Fresh Fish
Daily supplies of fresh fish to customers in western Europe with a wide range of different fish caught in the waters surrounding Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The products are either processed or unprocessed according to the customer‘s wishes and are supplied within 24 hours of landing the fish. They are sold to retailing, wholesalers and for further processing.
