Aker Seafoods Sweden AB Fiskmästar’n Smögen was purchased by Aker Seafoods in May 2007. All activities at the processing plant is administered through Aker Seafoods ASAs wholly owned subsidiary Aker Seafoods Denmark A/S. The processing plant mainly produces consumer packed fresh fish products for distribution to Sweden and Denmark. Products are packaged in modified atmosphere (MAP) and therefore requires raw material of high quality. The raw material is either purchased directly through auctions in Smögen and Göteborg or directly from Norway and Denmark, depending on who can offer the highest quality. Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) is a packaging method where the oxygen in the package is replaced with a mixture of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. MAP reduces the growth of bacteria and also absorbs moisture, which may prolong the initial fresh state of the product. The technology is also commonly used for packaging of meat. Fish that is MAP produced has increased shelf-life compared to other fresh fish. There is an increasing demand for MAP products in Europe, and Aker Seafoods Denmark has more than 12-years expertise in producing fresh fish products of highest quality packaged in modified atmosphere. Number of employees: Approx 20 Yearly raw material consumed: Approx 1 000 tonnes Products: Salmon portions natural or marinated, salmon filets vacuum packed, farmed fish, wild caught cod, plaice, saithe, mackerel, zander, haddock, rainbow trout, boiled and smoked shrimps, cod and salmon burgers.
